All of this week, WorldSBK.com is taking time to salute its five Champions of 2015. In Chapter 3, Champions Week details Lorenzo Savadori: the colourful, glitzy, fun-loving Italian who won this year’s FIM Superstock 1000 Cup.

Who is Lorenzo Savadori?
Born in Cesena, Italy, his youth and sheer talent make this boy one of the most promising riders to have hit the Italian motorcycle racing scene. Charismatic, well-spoken and with an infectious giggle, he may be only 22 but he has already done five seasons on the WorldSBK scene. He has also competed in Spanish and Italian championship plus the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup and three seasons of Grand Prix racing, in the 125 class.

How did he win the 2015 title?
By putting the past behind him. In 2014, he had been comfortably on target when he crashed just half a lap from the chequered flag at a wet Magny-Cours. Naturally, onlookers and commentators feared for a repeat performance when 12 months later he again arrived at the French finale as Cup leader. This time, proceedings ran far smoother. He settled into a contented eighth place, made no mistakes and gift-wrapped the title. Consistency was key, with four race wins and seven podium finishes across the course of the season.

What will he be doing next year?
Time will tell. Nothing confirmed just yet.

Savadori is promoting a book which tells the tale of his 2015 season, detailing the human and professional effort it took to clinch the Superstock 1000 crown. It is entitled ‘Sava Emotion’, written by journalist Mattia Grandi and garnished with the photography of Damiano Fiorentini.
